O. T. Prophecy

In the last section of books in the Old Testament we get a look into the mind of God during the last 400 to 500 years of God’s dealing verbally with Israel. The writing prophets began prophesying about 850 years before Christ and stopped about 400 years before His birth. God was silent during these last four centuries of the Old Testament period. He had repeatedly communicated both His desire for their return to Him and the certainty of His judgment upon them if they did not do so. If they would repent and return to Him He would gladly receive them back into fellowship.

In God’s attitude toward Israel during this period we see His gracious dealing with sinful men displayed in the most unlikely of circumstances encouraging us to repent of our sins, even the most awful men will be received by Him when they repent of their sins, placing their trust in His acceptance of Jesus’ sacrificial death on their behalf.
